Keynote speaker architet Hans Skotte has a long experience in the field: WHAT NEXT? – RE-BUILDING AFTER DISASTERS “BEWARE OF GOOD INTENTIONS! The complexities of reconstruction after disasters” Hans Skotte Architect, PhD, Professor Emeritus Norwegian Institute of Technology NTH, Norway After an international career as architect and project manager, Skotte returned to academia specializing in Post War & Post Disaster recovery studies, resulting in a much quoted doctoral theses on the internationally funded housing reconstruction in Bosnia. He is involved in issues as "the power of housing", and what housing can do to enhance societal and material recovery. Present research on the post-tsunami recovery in Sri Lanka. Dr. Skotte publishes nationally and internationally, primarily on architecture and recovery studies as well as on teaching and learning. He sits on advisory boards for international university programs and academic journals. DIscussion with Saija Hollmen M.Sc(Arch), Vice Dean for Art and Creative Practices, Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture and co-funder of the NGO Ukumbi, founded in 2007 with the mission to offer architectural services to communities in need.
